FPTB STUDENTS DECRY DATA, AIRTIME HIKE

The student of federal polytechnic bauchi has complain on the recent hike in telecommunications.

   In an exclusive interview with Asenath luka, a student of mass communication, she expressed her concern over the increase of data rate from 300 Naria to 1800, she said the rate has made her reduced her use of social media plafroms.

   Asenath, added that the increments has affected her in assignments and online classes, she pointed out that there's a specific course that entails posting on blogs and emails and the tarif rate has greatly affected her academic activities. 

  She also appeal to the school management to provide Free wifi within the school premise so it can reduce the cost on students.

 

 

   Also, speaking with a student of architecture and technology, Rejoice manchit. She said, “I use Airtel network provider and the rate has increased from 350/1gb to 750/1gb and this has affected  the way i get information from my class group chat, I cannot be online often, as most times I cannot buy data as usual”. 

  Rejoice also added that, the school ICT has free wife but the connectivity is poor due to hight traffic and sometimes the networks usually stops. Rejoice appeals to the school management to provide Free WiFi in every department as it will ease the burden on students.

Furthermore, in a similar interview with Christopher Alpha AkA G signal, a student of public administration who uses both MTN and Airtel network provider has expressed sadness over the increase in tarif plans of both network. He said, “as a student this increases has affected me academically because the little upkeep money I have for handouts and feeding is being allocated to data now”.

 Alpha added,  the school management and government should intervene in this issue, they should work with this network providers to ease the charges on students and provide internet access free if charge.
